Pied Beauty
Glory be to God for dappled things --
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches' wings;
Landscape plotted & pieced -- fold, fallow, & plough;
And 'all trades, their gear & tackle & trim.
All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled, (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.
This poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins comes close to describing in words the process of awakening perception through Miksang for me. The eyes open, the heart opens and there is a deep appreciation for the commonplace, the everyday world we usually pass by in oblivion. Miksang is a joyous journey of discovery and delight. It is a lesson in being present wherever I am.
In the Miksang classes I’ve received patient, insightful instruction, and thoughtful feedback from both the instructors and the participants. It has been a very enriching experience.
