Each day, each moment, the world presents us with graced beauty in ten thousand ordinary things. If we are visually awake, seeing this beauty can bring deep joy.

For 30 years I have sought these moments of clarity as a passionate diarist. My journals are visual: a picture or drawing culled from the comings, goings and stillness of each day. These Daybooks show me if and when I really see. They track a contorted path of calm and chaotic days; clear and cloudy days; one day after another after another.

This past year, my studies with Michael and Julie have profoundly opened the way I see. As a trained architect I have many preconceived visual biases. Beginning with the simplicity of color, texture and light, Miksang teachings have disciplined me through conceptual seeing into some small understanding of clear seeing. I thrill at being a visual beginner and having the rest of my life to walk this path.
